Special Episode #2- Wizard Rock: 2, Ceilings: 0

Posted by: Cody   in The Podcast

In this episode…

In which Julia has no voice and sounds like a chain smoker

Mommy, Cody wishes it could be her birthday everyday!

Swish and Flick is not for the faint of heart.

Emma and Amy were Slytherin cheerleaders, and we love them.

Justin, that evil Hufflepuff, is amazing with a full band.

Cody doesn’t know from Fight for Your Rights and Julia mocks her.

VoldieMark scared the crap out of our friend Ryan.

Julia can’t seem to get over the awesome that was Draco and the Malfoys’ set.

Plus she named Brad’s new banjo.

Julia and Cody almost get into an argument about “Lioness” right there in the middle of the podcast.

Russ and Julia argued about shipping, right there in the middle of Tonks and the Aurors’ set.

Steph made Julia cry.

Jarrod must have sweating half to death in that Weasley sweatshirt. Cody’s proud of him for keeping it on.

“Brotherly Love” live is a cardinal experience of life.

Matt glows awesome.

Anyone who doesn’t like “Merch Girls Are Easy” needs to get out of the fandom and come talk to us when they’re ready to think that’s funny.

Brian doing the hand motions to “On Behalf of Neville” is hilarious.

Words aren’t enough to describe a Harry and the Potters set.

John Green totally PWNED Twilight fandom.

Riddle TM are delicate.

It’s ok to play just WRock.

It’s dragons! It’s mermaids! It’s a maze! It’s fun to scream that with no voice.

We love that Adam wore all white with neon green socks.

The Moaning Myrtles: The Musical was an awesome way to organize a set.

“Transparent” was the perfect ending, and a lovely play on words.

Our voices are all better! Like magic! (Actually, this episode got attacked by Death Eaters and we had to record it in 2 halves that were two weeks apart giving our voices sufficient time to recover)

The Remus Lupins take the stage, as is their custom when they play.

Alex saved the day when the monitors broke. You can’t go wrong with songs about how much we love each other.

HOLY CRAP THAT IS LIGHTER FLUID!

Would someone please explain Alex’s thought process there?

One day, when there’s a Hard WRock Café…

Julia’s Fawkes program went well and didn’t want to make her throw up.

The Wizrocklopeida People’s Choice Awards gave us a few surprises.

Cody and Julia argue about the merits of Harry and the Potters vs. Ministry of Magic.

Mazel tov Alex, Toby and Tyler on the Lifetime Achievement Award!

Ariel is awesome!

Lena played “Merope’s Song” in a lower key and it was amazing.

Snidget has a new song called “On My Way” that we all love.

The Blibbering Humdingers sing along show!

Surprise! Bella and Le Strangers reunion show!

We gave that janitor the best night at work ever.

Julia grumbles. Actually grumbles.

1558 is the new 2458.

We’re the cool hippies.

I demand that you understand me!

Riddle TM called Squib Girl and made everyone cry…again.

We don’t live in upstate New York, but still enjoy the Chocolate Frogs.

Brian Malfoy is the biggest Wizard Rock fangirl ever.

Random Bellatrix feminist songs FTW! Even if they’re raging and murderous.

You do open when you go first.

Lena played with a band! Awesome!

People in the front row didn’t dance. Julia thought that was awkward and weird.

Ministry of Magic played…there was a lot of jumping…there was ceiling plaster falling into Muggles food.

And that brings the score up to Wizard Rock: 2; Ceilings: 0.

Julia knows nothing about mainstream music, danced with Hank Green and Andrew Slack, and enjoyed dancing to “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”

Cody and her friends busted out dance moves invented at Terminus.

“Total Eclipse of the Heart” is hilarious to people who listen to PotterFic Weekly, not so much to everyone else at LeakyCon.

Everybody sang “The Weapon.” Julia was standing near Brian and Paul, and it was epic. Russ would yell at me for saying epic, but it applies here.

You never know what’s going to happen at a con. So just go.

The LeakyCon Theme Song by Swish and Flick and House of Black

1. Please, Harry by The Parselmouths
2. This Land is My Land by Draco and the Malfoys

The Calendar of WRock: 2010

Posted by: Cody   in The Calendar of WRock

Hello, Bonjour, and Hola!

We’ve mentioned this in various contexts and to various people up to this point, but this is our official announcement that the Calendar of WRock, which was successful in raising over $700 for the Harry Potter Alliance last year, will be back again for 2010. I (Cody)  am hard at work putting designs together, and am still early on in the designing process, but we wanted to get some general information up. The calendars will, as last year, be sold to benefit the Harry Potter Alliance. We’re planning to put up the ability to order once all the designs are done, and no later than September or so, although we may go earlier if the interest seems to be in that direction.

This year’s calendar will include:

The Mudbloods, Romilda Vane and the Chocolate Cauldrons, Snidget, Roonil Wazlib, Witherwings, House of Black, Ministry of Magic, Gred and Forge, Marked as His Equal, RiddleTM, Harry and the Potters, and one special overall wizard rock spread.

That’s pretty much all we know at the moment, but we’ll keep you posted on here as new updates come into existence.

Here are previews of the two designs completed so far:

We’re very excited about this, and we hope that you are too!

In This Episode:

-A mysterious yet enthusiastic greeting for you all.
-Tales from a Jewish pre school!
-Basilisk in your Pasta insults the President of France, and Cody finds this amusing.
-Jo warns the ladies not to go for the bad guys.
-Villains are human, and that’s pretty damn scary.
-Julia zones out during Cody’s monologue, but is pretty sure she got the point.
-We say “interesting” a lot in this episode. It must be the new “awesome.”
-The progression of “the bad guy.”
-Vernon or Voldemort?
-Lucius Malfoy is not a typical Death Eater.
-Why would anyone knowingly become a Death Eater?
-Voldemort’s not winning anything with a 50 year old army.
-Cody looks at things in metaphorical terms.
-We worry about being attacked by Rockwood in a dark alleyway.
-The Blacks are effing nuts.
-Were the Potters racist?!?!
-A look at Bella through the lens of her family.
-The power of obsessive love is not to be messed with.
-Why would anyone love Voldemort? We just don’t understand.
-Why doesn’t Voldemort love anyone?
-Voldemort may have had a tragic love story early in life, but somehow we don’t think so.
-The dude abides. Alternately, Voldemort surfs.
-Yay! Psychoanalyzing villains! Squee!
-Merope was brave in many ways, and not so much in others.
-Mothers are important.
-The Hallows and Horcruxes Ball was awesome!
-Julia did the snaps for The Moaning Myrtles again!
-Watch out for flying panties during Ministry of Magic’s set.
-We hugged, we passed out challah, we got kicked out by security.
-There was a signed PwnCast calendar that made us nearly plotz.
